i'm a horrible person. one of the worst there are.
why?
i had better start at the beginning:
i like manga. i buy manga. i put manga on my shelf. that was a long time ago.
the first bunch of manga i bought (original card captor sakura vols 1-6 in the small, hard-to-keep-open binding), i simply put it alongside a bunch of books i had.
BUT
i used a certain something as a bookend. why i did it then, i don't know. i don't even remember putting the object there.
so i'm cleaning up my room today, and behind all the rows of new manga, i see a glimmer. a faint shining, if you will. i remove my first row of manga and find the object. it was[brace yourself

braced? okay]

an original copy of the Legend of Zelda for the NES in the gold cartridge and all.
i didn't know whether to laugh or cry. laugh from the absurdity or cry from the shame of having actually used a vintage NES game as a bookend. it was the strangest moment of the week, aside from when i saw two spiders bump into each other. that was pretty funny though...but really what the hell was i thinking? i usually treat my games well and all...but it still worked on my old NES, after i blew on it for like 10 minutes.
and the moral of the story is, old NES cartridges can function as both video game and bookend without serious problems. don't you feel enlightened now, gentle traveler?

I have a bunch of colorful famicom games propping up my desk at home. The cool thing about famicom games vs. their nintendo counterparts (other than the fact that they're in japanese) is the fact that they're all different colors, like reds, blues, pinks, oranges etc. not just ugly grey. Anyways, i bought a bunch of famicom games for like 10cents each, and tried to mod my original NES to play them, i ended up pulling out the wrong chip, and the NES has been dead ever since. Moral of the story is, never try to mod your own game system, especially when the system is worth far more than the 20 games you bought combined (i got em all for like 4$)
-Ian
Actually, come to think of it, i could probably get a original nintendo for like 4$ nowadays.

Instead of pulling out chips and trying to mod the thing, you could just buy a converter cart. Saves you alot of time and in your case would save the machine. I'm guessing that trying to put the chip back in its place failed. I have to manage with just grey carts. They're mostly european and as grey as they come.

As for gold Zelda cart. Are you out of your mind? To treat Zelda golden cart like that! *slap* Get a hold of yourself! --! This thing is worth a fortune nowdays. The only gold cart I have is the gold edition of Ocarina Of Time for N64. And I have a black cart with Turok 2. [I think it's black everywhere, meaning no matter what version you have, it will always be black.]

My friend has one of those old gold nintendo cartridges.. I wouldn't say it's in mint condition though...

i think one of the old NES gold cartriges is worth only a couple bucks, so don't get overly excited.

So many people own it.. so why is it worth more than the regular gray ones?
