Man....where's Happy! scanlation? it's been so long.......and Monster as well.......
I just dont get it. these two mangas have already finished, why can't u guys just focus on the finished mangas? it's not like it not been published yet, right? These happen all the time, it happened to all manga groups, one group manga doing like 5-10 mangas at the same time, and at the end, none is finished!!! Or worse, it end up with the manga get licensed......I just hope that Happy, monster, 20th CB can be done in the future!
Note: Sorry for being rude! |

It's nice that you expressed your apology, but if you're gonna apologize, why be rude in the first place? Have you ever done anything that made us feel that doing all this in our free time (and trust me, for some of us, free time is a very limited resource) was worthwhile? Have you ever even thanked the people who work on those series? I’m really curious as to why you think you’re in the position to make demands like that, so if you could enlighten me in that regard, it’d be appreciated. |

MS Founder here to settle all of your questions...
In response to the question, "Where the heck is Happy! and Monster you retarded slow manga group!" the answer is quite simple. How should i put this, Stephen Paul translates both of those series, along with 20th Century Boys, Beck and H2 among others. He has his hands full, but we still love these projects... in fact Stephen has been working FRANTICALLY (until his house burned down... not due to his franticness (is that a word)) on catching up on 20th Century Boys and finishing Monster (yeah, he's on volume 17 of 18) so that he can focus more time on Happy! and H2 and other manga... So stop being so rude and ask question like "can i help" or "who should i give tons of money to so that you guys can spend more time translating"....
Sure we have tons of projects, and some of them are going no where (most noteably Ryuuroden, Cats Eye and Kyou Kara Ore Wa!) but we put out easily more manga in most months than any monthly magazine in Japan... so BE THANKFUL! |

And to address the generic topic, there are so, so, so many reasons why any manga might not be released for a period of time. Maybe the scanner disappeared, maybe the editor disappeared, maybe the translator disappeared, maybe the absences are caused by computer breakdowns, maybe they were grounded and can't use the computer, maybe their internet provider had problems or shut their connection off, maybe there was an actual emergency, maybe they got sick of working on scanlation stuff, maybe the editor/scanner/translator is too busy working on other things to do the manga, maybe the editor/scanner/translator is too busy editing/scanning/translating other mangas to work on the manga, maybe the editor/scanner/translator is too busy editing/scanning/translating other manga for other groups, maybe the editor/scanner/translator is getting burnt out and needs some time off, maybe the group is planning on saving up a bunch of chapters for a mass release, maybe the group is having any of the aforementioned difficulties which prevent them from making their big release when they almost have enough chapters ready. Maybe nobody is interested in working on the manga anymore. Maybe the project was started by one person who isn't able to commit much time anymore, and nobody else is dedicated to seeing it completed and released. Maybe, maybe, maybe. Nearly all of the things I just listed have happened in Mangascreener at one time or another.
The reason why long times inbetween releases causes friction is the misconception that A) scanlation groups are like companies that punch in employees 9 to 5 and get a full day's work out of them for a full day's pay, and/or B) that a group is constantly able to work on a manga during the time when there aren't visible releases occurring.
We can't keep everyone up-to-date so that everyone knows exactly what the status of every manga is. It would be counterproductive to be in a constant state of apology, saying, "Oh, the release of this manga will be delayed a few days because today our editor had to go to court for a parking ticket." Or "We might have had another chapter ready except the translator was feeling lethargic, so maybe there will be more news about the inevitable postponing next update."
As for your specific question. Since my house burned down and I don't have any more manga, I have to translate from scans that people can give me. Since one of those things is Happy and some other things I might have been working on otherwise are unavailable, you can expect to see more Happy in the near future. |

Not to mention certain over-worked translators have to spend their valueable time replying to questions like "where is Happy!" instead of getting some peace and translating some manga. |

This is one of the most ungrateful, rude posts I have ever read. I see by your post count of 1 that you have *never* made a post here thanking anyone for their work, or anything like that. Instead you register for the message board just so you can complain.

Very well then, before I put on a rude post here (mostly about complains), I AM appreciate for what u guys (the editor, scanlator, etc) have done. If not, why would I bother reading the mangas on the internet? I guess after what I have said, I am the “evil” guy then…very well. I know I have no rights to critize u guys, I have no other explanations to back up for what I have said, so I can only say one thing, I am truly sorry for what I have said. And btw, for Stephen, I’m sorry for your loss, I didn’t know that. |
