Hi. Since summer hasn't started a topic for this project
I wil lsteal his thunder like the rotten bastard I am!
Yeah, I think its great. Certainly fills a niche. Yeah it has
a little more sex then other series we've released, not
gratuitous though.
Hopefully the recognition and mad props this series
receives will usher in a new and flashier era of
summer soldier filled recommendations! We'll work
our way up to a Naoki Yamamoto series yet!
Go summer + gatsu + ZD.
Yeah. |

There is 3 volumes of it out. Here is the magazine that it runs in http://www.ikki-para.com/ (pointless to go to if you can't read japanese).
Anyway, great first chapter. It looks extremely good. Glad MS is doing it. |

Interesting.. I think the sex scene was a bit unnecessary though. I think this manga has an interesting enough plot for me to keep reading even without that scene. Although, I must admit, the sex scene "caught my interest"... |

The nice thing about this series is that it allows me to use heavy amounts of expletives in my translation, a luxury I didn't have with Sexy Voice, Hanao or Mokke. Not that I was censored or anything, it's just that the f-word would have sounded hopelessly inappropriate and out of place in those series...
Anyway, I'm expecting G Senjou to be more popular than my other two series, Sexy Voice or Hanao (which, let's face it, are both acquired-taste manga, as much as I love them), and I hope everyone will prove me right. But like hyah said, it does have some explcit sex, something we don't normally do at MS, so if that turns you off, then you might want to stay away from it.
slamdunkfan - sorry, I don't want to give out those kind of information, even if somebody asks for them. You'll just have to keep reading. And yeah, it's 3 volumes long and complete. |

See, that's what I don't understand. Of course, I could argue that the sex scene is important to define the character blah blah blah, but I don't understand why I have to make that argument in the first place. People always say that the sex scene is unnecessary, but you never hear them say that the scene of the characters eating dinner is unnecessary, or that the scene of them sleeping cozily in bed is unnecessary. I never find myself having to argue in defense of the importance of those scenes, so why is it just the sex scenes that people always focus on? |

There have been several bits of feedback from the channel so far today that have included statements like "nice to see some fanservice in an MS manga!" which I must say I disagree with. I typically define "fanservice" as pointless T & A. A guy accidentally looking at a girls panties or touching her breast for comedy is pointless, and therefore fanservice. It doesn't add anything to the story and exists only to provide titillation. The sex scenes in G Senjou are important parts of the story. You can't paint Machizo's character nearly as vividly without making it clear that he is having sex with his father's lover. The author might have made it clear that Machizo was attracted to her and felt jealousy toward his father but it wouldn't have quite the impact if it wasn't shown that he was sleeping with her and still wasn't as important to her as his father was.
Anyways, so far the response has been very good. I think Summer is right about G Senjou becoming more popular that Sexy Voice, Hanaotoko, or Mokke. |

Wow, I wouldn't have thought a simple sex scene would make such a ruckus. Even though, as explained by Stephen, the scene explains some important things about the character, I definetly agree with Summer: why should we try and justify the existence of such scene, if we don't normally do the same with dinner scenes, sleeping scenes, etc? And I think it's specially pointless since in most mangas the character's are explained through their everyday actions. Of course, fanservice is usually "unnecesary", because it says nothing about the characters [and since you Mangascreener guys usually don't pick up stupid comedies, it's only logical that your mangas don't have fanservice], but then again, in the little depth those comedies have, the fanservice scenes usually have an effect on the plot, for example the boy accidentally touches a girls breast, thus they fight, thus he proves that he isn't a pervert, or a pervert guy does the same, the hero challenges pervert, they fight, hero wins. So even though fanservice is stupid, it's not that pointless.
Anyway, I really liked the first chapter, but the long wait for Sexy Voice is making me more eager for a new chapter of it than G Senjou. |

Yeah, sorry about the holdup on Sexy Voice, we've been having trouble getting scans for volume 2, but trust me, it's coming. |

Its probably because too many manga/anime fans equate creativity in artwork with uglyness...
Keep up the good work summer. You're providing some of the most interesting manga I've read lately, and going well beyond the "Lets take a random generic shoujo manga and translate it" or "Lets take a manga based on my favorite anime and translate it" mentality that so many scanlators seem to have... |
