Hi!
I was trying out irc for the first time ever, and went to #mangascreener.
First thing I did was typing !rules but nothing showed up. After 15 min. or so, reading http://kasshin.anime-kraze.net/Leeching_For_Noobz.html in paralell, I learned how to access the servers, and found what I was looking for - Hanaotoko and Under the Dapple Shade.
However, one server had something like "/ctcp Srvrname NARUTO" as a trigger, but I didn't get any response from typing that. So I tried @find naruto, and after that I got banned. I figured it was probably because of the manga naruto beeing licensed, and thought that they (admins) couldn't know that I was just curious and thought I would find some wallpapers, screenshots or something like that. But I can understand that ban.
What I don't understand however is that on another computer, I got banned ten minutes later when trying to ask, in a very nice way, if it really was because of that search I was banned? I excused myself and said that I needed some help and info because I was new. But I was first ridiculed because of the nick I had, and then called stupid and naive, and then banned again, before I could say anything more or explain. Banned just for asking for help?
In short, I feel very badly treated. Is there any chance I can get an explanaition from one of the admins on #mangascreener about the policy of banning people that need help? Or any "official" response? |

By the way, I think it was the nick "Icarium" that banned me the second time. |

Official response: I'm terribly sorry that the rules were down, however, searching for manga licensed in North America (like Naruto) is against the rules (as it is in many manga channels) and using @find to look for it will result in you getting banned.
My response: eh, suck on shit. I was the one who "ridiculed your nickname" (you took offense to that? My god, what are you, 12?) and had you banned. And as far as I'm concerned you get absolutely no sympathy.
As for the "oh but I'm a n00b! I have a license to be clueless!" excuse, well, let's see you use that same excuse when you accidentally chop off your grandma's head with a chainsaw you've never used before, becuz u couldnt fidn teh instructionz.
PS Please try not to feel bad or singled out: if there had been a second person who was as equallly witless as you, I would have treated him the exact same way. |

As I said, I think it was ok to be banned the first time - I made a mistake, and the reaction was quick. No hard feelings for that.
But why the second time? I didn't do any search, I just wanted a confirmation that this search was the reason, and not something else that I did (e.g. too many typos, error messsages spawning out to the ops, something like that.) |

I got banned on irchighway when I either wrote %$^&$&*(literally) or for using @find when I asked if I could(and was told I could) and checking the rules if you had the rule.
So which one did I get banned for? I didn't think writing gibberish in jest was offensive.
The guy that banned(kicked) was Zero_Dreams. |
