Post your reflections/opinions here. This is an awesome, awesome manga. If you haven't had a chance to read Naoki Yamamoto before, don't pass it up. It's also only 2 volumes, so it shouldn't be too large of a commitment to keep up with. |

Yeah -- the one chapter wasn't too impressive, but there also wasn't much story in it. I'm waiting for more before making any comments.

Yes they were...
Sick sex-deprived losers.
I can sense it, it'll only be a matter of times before the guys lose it and rape the girl. |

If this manga has made you interested in Yamamoto Naoki, there are 2 one-shots by him up on The Hawks BT page, "Sho Nuff I Do" and "Watching TV All The Time Makes You Stupid," both of which I translated under the influence of alcohol and which Gatsu kindly edited & put up on BT. |

I read "The Believers" chapters 1-3 the other day in one sitting, after having chapter 1 on my hard drive for some time.
It's interesting, intriguing stuff. But as many have said, the story hasn't quite reached the point of no return, where everyone craves for a new chapter if they have to claw at all the chalkboards they can get at and scream at innocent pedestrians, and the alike.
But I like it.
It's very mystifying - it doesn't rest at giving you some things to question and wonder about.
What really is going on in the world those people live in (or in their case, outside of)?
What is that organisation, and what are their goals?
What's the past of those three individuals?
Is there anything that makes their walk through life similar, and has to do with this program their in?
And last but not least: Will we be seeing any exploding brains?
(...yum, telepathy)
It's very well drawn, too. Detailed.
Good stuff. I'd like to see more. |

Thanks. It's always rewarding when someone actually bothers to provide their thoughs here, as opposed to just leeching in silence without so much as a show of appreciation.
I'm afraid that this series doesn't feature any exploding brains, but it has something much, much better: sex. This IS a Naoki Yamamoto work after all. |

You're welcome. I know that if I were spending any of my free time scanslating interesting manga, I'd like some feedback too;)
I haven't read any Naoki Yamamoto before, but he sure is suggesting a lot of things with the peeks into that guy's head:P
SSSSSSSSSSSHiiiiiver :&

Hey I actually registered JUST to post about Believers. Its that awesome! Thanks MS!
I'm getting more and more curious about the organization. What's the point? What year is it, for that matter? Present day?
BTW, do the little faces on their shirts signify anything other than the computer smiley? (I think they're called kaomoji in Japanese...)
I love it whenever the three "believers" try to justify their actions through roundabout references to the Organization's goals. Really funny.
And the whole eating poo thing, ewww. With the Japanese censorship rules, that pic posted here makes it seem like she's going to find out what it tastes like too hehe. |
