Hi, I belong to Mangas-Nemesis a french scanlation team (www.mangas-nemesis.net) and I would like to thank you for your work.
I've read Senjou heavens door and I saw that nobody here in france is doing its translation so I would like to know if we can use your work on this project to make our french translation. We'll be very glad if we could have your support. We'll also add a link to your website and we'll state that the scans where provided by your team.
Thanking you in advance |

Mangas-Nemesis, eh? That sounds very... antagonistic.

Well I can't say anything about scans, but I don't really care if you use my translations as long as you agree to stop distributing it if it gets licensed in French.
You'll have to ask Gatsu about the scans, unless Izumi's response really IS the official response. In that case, just buy and scan the original manga and translate off of my scripts. |

Woah, I thought MS was more lenient about that. |

You *do* understand that now they're going to use the MS releases anyway, and then when confronted about it claim that (1) they never got a response so they thought it was OK; and then when you point them to this thread (2) claim that the forum magically mysterifies this particular thread and makes it inaccessible to all French people.
Yeah so I'm a little biased towards French scanlators. So what? |

Hi, I'm NeoDarkAngel from Mangas-Nemesis
First of all, I'd like to thank you for your work (yeah, lot of people must tell you that stuff over and over so maybe you don't care anymore, but well, I wanted to say it)
Hmm, about Izumi's answer, I'm really sorry he didn't accept, that manga interested us a lot and we wanted to provide to french fans a french version... Well, I can understand his point of view... and you may think we're just a bunch of lazy guys that can only steal your work and all that stuff... what can I say ? we just can't find any jp>fr translator, we just can't buy the manga by ourselves, but we just want to do it for our pleasure and the fans and all that stuff... so we're lazy ? you may say that :/
This leads to my answer to Emperor Ketchup.. Yes, I can't deny it, a lot of french scanlation teams are stealing scans and translations from you, but please, don't say that every french scanlation team is doing that. Of course having hours of work stolen by some random stupid guy can make you jump to hasty conclusions like that, I understand. But well, he was french... so what ? we can't do anything about this except being sorry for the fact that he was french.
But we're not responsible for every stupid french people that don't even respect others just because we're french too, so please, don't say stuff like that.
Well, that was a lot of talking for nothing I guess, but well, I just wanted to say that we are ok with Izumi's answer, and we will NOT go against his descision and use the scans anyway, pretending we didn't got answer or anything.
We're not like that.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot, thanks to Summer Soldier for being ok, but as we can't use the scans, we won't be able to do it in the end ^^; |

Actually nowadays I don't particularly care about french scanlators using my work, and I usually end up giving the OK (unless they're particularly retarded). But the fact remains I simply don't care about them; doesn't change the fact I don't like them. |

Yes you are! Die!!
Have you guys ever considered hiring a JP>EN translator and working with those translations? Meh, SummerSoldier gave you his "okay" so that's not really an issue now.
Can you just explain to me why it's so hard to obtain the scans though? As far as my knowledge goes, it should cost at most 20-40 dollars importing all 3 volumes of G Senjou Heaven's Door. I'm also guessing by all of the French comics I've downloaded on the internet, that you guys are not devoid of a scanner. So what is the problem here? |

maybe they're cheap and lazy? though at least these guys have the balls to *ask* first. nothing like using someone else's translations, scans, whatever, without permission.
but seriously, japanese -> english -> 3rd language makes for some very watered down dialogue. find a native of your own language who knows how to translate from japanese. that'll give you the best translation, AND you wont have to steal (or borrow; whatever you wanna call it). |

I want to know why we get so many requests from French scanlators, and only French scanlators. I have received at least five requests to use my King of Thorns translations in french (and several requests for Love Roma), but never any other language (spanish, italian, etc.)

Also personally, I don't care if anyone asks permission and I don't feel that I have the right to demand or expect that anyone ask me for permission. None of us ever asked permission to scan the Japanese manga, or to make a translation of the Japanese script. So to me it's just hypocrisy to expect anyone to ask permission of us before they use what we have produced.
