Banned from IRC by petr

My nick is DePolo
I feel I have been unfairly banned from the channel.

My version of the facts:

I ask the question:
are there any http mirrors of the news relases?

Emperor Ketchup answers:
are you giving us any money
are you giving us any webhost
no
so shut the fuck up

My reply
interesting reply given that I only asked one questions I didn't think of having been particulary rude - and I am v.greatful to just being able to read the relases.

NOTE that at the time there was no conversation going on so I didn't feel as if my question was disrupting the channel or some such.

Anyway a guy then typed !rules and I thought it would be actually a good idea to refresh my memory of what is consider a good policy on the chanel and I type !rules too.

At that point I find myself kicked and banned from the channel by petr (not even by Emperor Ketchup) which I could almost understand if he felt that my reply was some way of antagonizing him.

I have a screenshot of the reply that I received from petr about why I was banned available if needed, anyway I shall just paste here the information

Please, I like to think I'm a tad more eloquent than that when I'm flippantly dismissing random morons who think they are teh special and should be addressed with respect.

PS Here's a clue for all of you unfortunate fucks who for one reason or another get banned from the channel: most of us can honestly, sincerely say from the bottom of our hearts that we really don't care about your plight.

PSS As for your terribly restrictive internet conditions: guess what, we care even less. It's like the "I have slow uploads" argument people on BT use when they get banned from a tracker; we've heard it a million times before. Do you know what this means? That's right! We don't care!

I would have quoted your exact words but I have no logs and obviously after having been kicked from the channel I could not cut and paste from the window. But yes those your words.

I still stand by my point of view that it was one question (not questions) and that I do think it was an unfair ban but yes, you are running the channel, you are heading the scanslation effort, so at the end of the day yours is the right to ban who you feel like for whatever reason.

I know that I never saw people treated like that by mangascreener before nor by anyother group but for mangaproject - even though they stopped having that attitude in the past months.

But yes I agree even my complaint about it being unfair has no value given that we are not in the business of doing what is morally right as I suppose scanslation wouldn't quite fall under that `morally right'.

Oh well I guess that I won't be reading mangascreener releases for a while (forever?) but yes no need to point out that it is my loss and not yours (I will admit that mangascreener and mangasketchbook have the most intersting mangas).

That seems pretty harsh to me, but the mirror site list is in the topic of the channel.

You aren't banned permanently; you'll be unbanned whenever the list is cleared, which happens every 5-10 days or so depending on how many people get banned.

Questions like that have a good chance of pissing off most scanlators. How they express their irritation (kick + ban, kick or just a reprimand) may depend on the scanlator and/or the op who is in the channel at the time, but one thing I can say for certain is, you get no sympathies from me. Seriously, go away.

What's so hard to understand? You barged into the channel acting like a dick, demanding explanations for why you weren't being given your free services quickly enough for your own liking, to which I gave a predictable response to by booting you from the channel.

And here's another message for all you faggarts: if you get banned/kicked/insulted/etc by me, don't bother crying about it because trust me I won't care. If I deem you an idiot I will treat you like shit, and nothing is going to convince me to do otherwise.

Also LeonSykes has a history of barging into the channel and asking the same question every time: "Why isn't there more Beck?"

Of course, he never learns his lesson (or the period of time between each grand entrance is the exact amount of time it takes him to forget what happened last time).

Yep -- unlike the original poster in this thread, who I feel was dealt with a little too harshly, you deserved your ban completely. Don't expect anyone to have sympathy for you over that.

Asking about the status of a project, particularly in a hostile way or a way that implies or outright states that you deserve anything, is probably the easiest way to get banned from any fansub or scanlation channel.

Ya maybe I was to harsh, but blame it on reading 7 vols of Koroshiya Ichi in one afternoon. I just felt like banning somebody. Poor you. Next time try all the fservers.

Thanks for the replies and yes I do suspect that reading all that Koroshiya Ichi could have strange effects (I honestly don't have the stomach for it - it just seems a tad gratuitous in its violence/pain/sex linking - though possibly there are persons like that).

Even though my ban might be only for 5-10 days I doubt I will come back to the channel in the next months - I did the same when Zilleh went on his ego trip (and no I was never banned from mangaproject). Yes I know you will not miss me, it doesn't matter.

Regarding whether I feel I am special and should be address with respect the answer is no I am not special but yes I should be treated with respect like everybody maybe it's not a popular attitude but I like treating people the way I would like to be treated. So I believe you can ban whoever you like but still no need to be offensive.

It was nice reading the releases of mangascreener (I was around since when it had initially opened and it was really just a screener).

Although I will probably check this thread for a couple more days I don't think I will be posting anymore.

To be honest, I thought the original poster was treated too harshly as well (yeah, kern and I are soft), but any sympathy I felt for him kind of disappeared after that eloquent farewell message. If you're going to leave, just leave. No need to inform us about it, especially since you were a non-presence to begin with.

P.S. Who the hell is Zilleh?
