just wondering if mangascreener is a group that holds true to the motto "translated by fans for fans" because i was visiting the forum here as well as others to see what interesting topic was being discussed, but i find the atmosphere here quite uninviting. It seems everyone here is scared stiff of saying the wrong word which might bring a mod or a regular member to come reply with the most unhelpful or most insulting reply possible.
Further looking at the forum it seems the irc channel is no better, the message that i am observing from all this is, "fans (leechers) get lost, if not expect to be insulted"
Also noticed that the word "beck" is taboo.
Not complaining, but just wondering.

Your assertions are correct. I'll wait for someone else to tell you to fuck off and die. |

Yeah, motto "translated by fans for fans" is true here. But you got sth wrong. Leechers are not fans at all. Only we are fans. So we are 'translating' it for ourselves. Not for you, fucking lazy leechers who can only complain about how slow we're releasing stuff. |

The motto is a tad short on details.
Where it says "translated by fans for fans," that second part about "for fans" should read something similar to the following:
"for fans who do not bitch and whine about their free service, use 'I am new/ignorant/an ESL student/had a tough upbringing' as an excuse to spread stupidity throughout the digital realms, write with the wit and charm of a colic 8-year old with Downs, and in general do not act like a depressingly high percentage of online Japan-related fandom and inspire their fellow men to try and invent some sort of machinery to allow for the stabbing of faces over the internet." |

I welcome intelligent discussion.
Asking questions about where to find x, when x will be out, how many volumes x is, if we're still doing x, and why we don't do x do not fall under "intelligent discussion," and thus tend to get curt dismissals, outright hostility or other methods of stress relief for operators and staff members. Unfortunately, with a few tiny exceptions, nobody is interested in anything but variants of the above questions.
Nonstop reinforcement of the above stereotype has created in anyone who's been around for more than a few months an extremely cynical and hostile mindset towards anyone who speaks up. No doubt we would all be glad to encounter someone who defies the stereotype. I'll let you know when we do. |

You're always welcome if you can hold your own, but unless you've got thick skin you won't last a minute with the big boys.
There are plenty of sites who are a lot more accepting than us, but we're interested in quality over quantity.
Plus anyone can download from our site, but not everyone is welcome in this community... like i said, its for some people and not for others. |

If you want to see some examples of the kinds of threads and posts that don't get those kinds of responses, look at the ones named after our projects (i.e. the Mushishi thread) in the projects forum.
Basically if you're looking for a place for actual discussion about our series (or manga in general), then the forum should be fine.
If you're looking for a social community, or a place to complain about the speed of mangascreener's releases, then this is not the place to go. |

I no longer possess the energy to bother coming up with something original to say to this guy, so I'll just say: "what everyone else said".
In all honesty though, none of us actually care. |

Although I am no regular here, I fully approve of the way you accuse the mods/regulars of acting. There are plenty of places which are stricter, or may demand ten bucks for access, and still ban you if you're an idiot. That being said, you're an idiot if you get banned anyway.

As has been said before, leechers != fans. A fan appreciates, and understands the other side. Leeches leech and demand more. Like... leeches. Until they suck up all they want, and just fall off without a word of thanks.
Besides, I have no problem with irc. I haven't been banned ... yet. |

people here tend to be a lot more harsh and prone to flaming people. but honestly if you just have a thicker skin it's not that bad. and you're likely not to get flamed unless you
1) ask for faster releases
2) act entitled
3) ask for licensed works
4) ask about statuses of projects (which some people take as a nice way of saying "HURRY UP")
5) ask a question that can be answered by using the website quickly. Ie asking how many volumes of H2 there are when you can just click on "projects" and then "h2" and see how many from there.
6) saying something stupid
#6 everyone does at some time or the other so when people flame you for it, just shrug it off and wait for someone else to say something stupid so you can flame them. :) The other 5 I've seen come up kinda often unfortunately. |

Speaking of which, as I am special(2) it is in my interest to know when you will be releasing(4) the next chaper of ONE PIECE(5) and why you have not for so long(1) (this would be an apology on your part(6)). |
