I was disapointed, they didn't fully utilize all the black stereotypes that japanese have... i guess i'll have to wait for further chapters! |

As much as I like this manga, the grammatical awkwardness of the title really gets to me. |

Me and the devil blues is actually the name of the song where he talks about his relationship with the devil...
Me and the Devil Blues (take 1)
Early this mornin'
when you knocked upon my door Early this mornin', ooh
when you knocked upon my door And I said, "Hello, Satan,"
I believe it's time to go."
Me and the Devil
was walkin' side by side Me and the Devil, ooh
was walkin' side by side And I'm goin' to beat my woman
until I get satisfied
She say you don't see why
that you will dog me 'round
spoken: Now, , you know you ain't doin' me
right, don'cha She say you don't see why, ooh
that you will dog me 'round It must-a be that old evil spirit
so deep down in the ground
You may bury my body
down by the highway side
spoken: Baby, I don't care where you bury my
body when I'm dead and gone You may bury my body, ooh
down by the highway side So my old evil spirit
can catch a Greyhound bus and ride |

However, it doesn't appear that Robert Johnson started the "sold my soul to the devil" rumor, but that it was spread mostly by Son House. |

I don't know about that; I think people just like to interpret things that way. In "Me and the Devil Blues", for instance, he's just using the devil thing as a metaphor for his profligate behavior. "Hellhound on my trail" doesn't really have anything to do with the idea. "Crossroad blues" doesn't mention the devil at all. |

Itīs probably all a figment of peopleīs imagination, you can play along with the myth and believe everythin and interpret lyrics and read about the guy, or you can choose to be sceptic and the game will be over pretty soon. Party pooper :p |

I think the whole devil thing has really overrated Robert Johnson - he's a good bluesman and all, but far from my favorite, and in my opinion his music isn't anywhere near as creepy as it's made out to be. I mean, Hellhound On My Trail can send shivers up my spine if I'm in the right mood, but nothing of his ever really haunted me like Skip James' blues.
Still, it makes for a neat story, and I really enjoyed the first chapter of this manga. |

I'm woefully ignorant about the blues (hell about all music) and Robert Johnson, despite being a southerner...
Anyway, love the art. Are those oil paintings?
The manga reminds me of certain movies, but the whole memory is mostly vague and I can't think of any names. |

Just read the second chapter. I'm still very very impressed with the art. I wonder if I would actually be able to guess that this was Japanese if I wasn't aware beforehand... |

I love how she's got her man under her finger. Her mother's even funnier. Ah, that'll be them in a few years. |
