It appears that CPM is going to be releasing Nananan Kiriko's "Pale Pink" in May this year. See the page link right here

I'd be amused if it came out before the much delayed release of "Blue" from Fanfare/Ponent Mon. Razz

That's interesting. On a related note, we'll have another Nananan one-shot out very soon.

great, I look forward to it. Frankly I"m quite surprised that someone other than Ponent Mon picked up another one of her works... Maybe the US manga industry is finally taking baby steps to where it needs to be to sustain long term sales...

Of course, who knows whether or not CPM is consciously trying to attract a more intellectual audience, or simply acquiring a cheap license designed to bring in a modest profit?

What the hell is "Pale Pink"?

There's actually another Nananan one-shot that I translated long ago, but never bothered submitting the script...

EDIT: It might have helped if I had actually bothered clicking on the link. It looks like Pale Pink is the English title for Strawberry Shortcakes. I wonder what's up with the color theme - are they going to publish "Painful Love" as "Yellow" or something?

you right it is strawberry shortcakes I found a link here which also linked to a really nice comics/animation blog from a guy who has similar views to my own, but can speak Japanese so he's seen a lot more here though it appears he wasn't too impressed by this work.

No way CPM? Interesting. And man only 8.99 on Amazon...

Wonder if there's copyright issues with Strawberry Shortcakes character? At least I think that was the cartoon girl in the fluffy hat's name...

But if they call it yellow they can nab all those unsuspecting yaoi fangirls too who confuse it with that other one.

Oh man the first link person likes Tramps Like Us....ewwwww the main character and overriding themes and plot are ridiculously stupid and immature and naive and too self-rightous and the mangaka must have had no real life experiences to draw on.

God I hope Pale Pink is nothing like Tramps Like Us (except artwise I wouldn't mind.)

K rant off... Rolling Eyes

That's really surprising, especially considering CPM recently layed off some of their manga staff and cancelled a whole lot of titles. Titles which are presumably bigger sellers than they might expect this to be. I hope this one still sees light over here. Maybe CPM is trying its luck in more of a niche market (people who like manga but don't care about slayers?)...
