Scoobie Do's new album will be coming out this week. I'll be getting it - I hope it's good.

Pnyxtr - I got the CDs you sent me yesterday! Actually, I might have received it earlier, since I only check my mailbox about once every fortnight. Many thanks for them, and let me know what you'd like me to send you in return (I hope it's something legal!). Some of the Hello Saferide songs reminds me of Tokyo band advantage Lucy, only with much better English.

I bought this compilation of 60s/70s British acid folk music yesterday, but unfortunately, Anna Ternheim has kept me from putting the disc in my player.

Oh, and the new Pomeranians album is pretty excellent.

Word on the street is that pnyxtr will demand the soundtrack to a cult underground child porn/snuff film!

What's a snuff film anyway? Just in case it comes up in some E->J translation I have to do at work.

For the answer to that question, I refer you to the 1999 movie "8mm" starring Nicolas Cage.

As for recent listens I scored 2 CD's by The Advantage, their 2004 Self-Titled release and their recent "Elf-Titled" release, as well as a sort of Air/French synthpop-inspired album called The World of Lola Dutronic, which I'm sure never saw any major distribution outside a 50km-radius of Vancouver.

Those Advantage albums are pretty neat. I think I would prefer to listen to Spencer Seim drumming for NES covers than his ridiculous guitar work in Hella.

Lemme know how the latest Scoobie Do album performs... their
previously latest "Plus One More" a 7 track album(wtf!!!) was
not as awesome as break rock was... my favorite of the ones
we've amassed.

Pnyxtr has been converted.

Utabi - Manchurian Candy
YMCK - Family Music
YMCK - Family Racing

For quite possibly the first time ever, I found something worthwhile on 4chan.
Seriously considering importing them (especially the Utabi CD)

Dreadsquad - Dread Za Dreadem - i realized recently that i like reggae, ragga and such
Maria Peszek - Moje Miasto - sth completely different...
Novika - feat. Novika & Oszibarack - Moshi Moshi - club music. and i like it.
Coma - Pierwszy Wyjście z Mroku - sth more metal-rocky.

Quote:
Eastern Youth U.S. dates
Eastern Youth is coming back to the U.S. to support their new album,"365-step blues", will be released on March 21. All dates will be with Facing New York. Check tour section for more details. The album will be out in Japan on March 8 and after the U.S dates, the band will start an extensive Japan tour.

3/20 Phoenix, AZ @The Rhythm Room
3/21 Hemet, CA @Hemet High School
3/23 San Diego, CA @TBA
3/24 Hollywood, CA @Knitting Factory (early show)
3/25 San Francisco, CA @Bottom of The Hill
3/26 Sacramento, CA @TBA

All you losers living in the West Coast (or more specifically, California and Phoenix), might want to check this out. I can't vouch for it personally, since I've actually never seen them live, but I'd expect them to be good. Never heard of Facing New York.

The new Scoobie Do album is coming out this week, actually. I'll probably wait until the weekend to grab it.

And after bitching and moaning that Amazon Japan doesn't carry Anna Ternheim CD, whaddayaknow, my local HMV had some import copies in stock. Oh well, it's more special when you receive it from an online friend. I wish one of the cooler Japanese labels (I'm looking at you, P-Vine) would sign her and bring her over here.

The album that's been seeing a lot of action in my CD player the past few days is Nothing But The Water by Grace Potter And The Nocturnals. You know, I find it a lot easier to groove to this kind of bluesy country music than all that garbage that the British hype machine spews out and tries to convince us that it's credible music. You know, the Arctic Monkeys and the Franz Ferdinands and the Bloc Parties* and whatnot.

*Actually, I've never heard a single note that Bloc Party put on record. I'm just assuming that they suck because of all the hype that surrounded them. Close-minded? Probably, but the ability of inference is one of the gifts that us homo sapiens have been bestowed with.

Personally I don't think they suck that that badly but then again they're nothing special (which is also my assessment of Franz Ferdinand). Listen to Maximo Park instead.

Yesterday an friend sent me Alarm Will Sound doing Aphex Twin songs. They were at Carnegie Hall yesterday, if they're back in the area at any point I'll have to see it live, that's the first thing I've been able to say that about in a long time.

Planning to see the Dirtbombs in Hoboken tonight. It'll be the first live music I've seen in over a year (last one was Stanley Clarke and Jean-Luc Ponty).

I've been picking up some of the Pogues reissues when I can get them cheap at the local record dump. It's been a couple years since I listened to Red Roses For Me, had forgotten how good this is. It's also one of the few cd reissues I've heard where the bonus tracks are of a quality conistent with the rest of the album and don't actually detract from it.

SURPRISE

well I guess I can't really hate, eastern youth/sparta locals
have some of the same thing going and it is a fine line between
consistency and carbon copyage.

I'm not a Sparta Locals fan, but I don't find them offensive in the way that I find Franz Ferdinand offensive. Not even sure why I dislike FF so much, there are certainly plenty of worse stuff out there.

The new Scoobie Do was okay, but I'm gonna have to keep saying that I have yet to hear any recorded work by them that's even half as good as their live shows.
