Dirk Deppy has been educating alternative american comics fans on the kinds of manga they have been reading, and the first scanlation group he featured was none other than you guys!
http://tcj.com/journalista/?p=192
He later went on to talk about Kotonoha, Lilicious, Jinmen Juushin, and various other "high quality" manga that can be found by digging deep into the scene.
Deppy is doing a real credit to people who are into manga that don't get sold in the us, one can only hope that he gets the interest of the alt comix publishers so that they will start publishing stuff over here, so I can actually BUY and support the manga that I like to read... (though darkhorse has gotten a lot better, and Ponent Mon can sometimes GASP! actually be found these days in stores). |

Dirk's a neat guy. I appreciate that he's willing to point out all these things we're doing even though in my urge to impress I came off as a huge suck-up on that interview he did with the various manga groups. |

That was in The Comics Journal no. 269, the big, big shoujo issue with the huge huge Moto Hagio interview (and 15 page comic). Stephen was quoted in a feature on scanlation/online comic distribution. There was a thread on this message board about it which, the amount of activity it sees, shouldn't be too far back. It was what, last summer? |

After I read his blog entries on Jinmen Juushin as well as MS it struck me yet again how the best-regarded titles that I worked on are usually the ones I had the least personal investment in and just sort of absent-mindedly shat out over a relatively brief period of time.
PS re Jinmen Juushin that group is like the Axl Rose of scanlating. |

I thought it was a good series that managed to give Dirk's target audience a good sample of manga. There were a few titles I'd definitally want to add to his list (no Devil Blues! or Witches!), but overall a great article. |
