The monthly chapters for Afternoon so far are much more in the vein of those first chapters to start off the story. Longer, complex, lots of battle.

I bet Shonen Magazine wasnt only too much for him because of the weekly schedule; but the editors were probably cramping his style as well.

Maybe pnyxyr has read this before (it's a Swedish website)?

I'd love to see the actual interview article, but it look like it's in Swedish so I wouldn't be able to read it anyway.

Yukimura was also interviewed by a Norwegian journalist, and this was actually for a major broadsheet newspaper.

I like how the Afternoon page made it sound like the Scandinavian men took up the toy weapons of their own volition ("they couldn't resist their Viking blood!"), but the blog reveals that Yukimura made them do it (I figured as much).

I haven't seen that before, but I've seen the guy in other comics-related circumstances. And, now that I've followed one of the links from there, I realise that I've actually read one of those articles he set out to write, in my morning paper. (Not the one about Yukimura, though, it doesn't sound like that's published yet.)

Manga is actually somewhat "in" around here, though most of the asshats that talk/write about it know next to nothing. Which isn't quite the case with this guy, thankfully.

Speaking of toy weapons, I saw a throwing axe at the local hardware/hobby store a couple of days ago. Quite a real one, though, and big too.
I bet you don't get that at Tokyu Hands.

We don't.

But I bet you guys don't get natto spaghetti either, so that makes things even.

Man, I read volume 3 recently, and I'm appalled at how those dirty Vikings are pillaging England. I can't believe cjd is editing this. He should stand up for the honor of his country and declare a duel against pnyxtr.

I bet those vikings are Danes anyway. They've always been evil.

(Besides, most vikings from around these parts would probably much rather have pillaged petr's homelands before venturing forth to the shores of Albion.)

Again, thanks for the latest chapter of Vinland Saga. Thanks soo much. You know how much i love this manga; its the best thing and happiest ive been now in this year. (even more so than travels, or landing new job, or anything). Is that weird Confused ?

Woo hoo its long again like the first chapters! Smile And also, the last few chapters i kinda felt the artwork becoming somewhat 'plainer' compared to the first chapters; but this chapter was totally gorgeous.

And this chapter was so touching and moving Shocked Really dramatic, i feel more so than anything till now.

Again thanks thanks soo much.

I remember that article Very Happy . It was in "Aftenposten" which is one of the majore newspapers i Norway. It was this article which made me want to read Vinland in the first place.

I regret that I did not keep that article, because it was fun to see a Japanese takeing an intrest in the norwegian/scandinavian Viking culture.

in the article the mangaka said that in japan they often call buffets for "vikingstyle" because norwegians tends to just grab what ever they want on the dinnertable without asking someone to pas it. And if someone offers them to pas it we say that we have "penjonat armer" ( = long arms) and just reaches a bit longer to get it. .. but not all norvegians are like this...

I think it is a bit vierd to call the bad guy Askeladd, since the name "Askeladden" is used as a name for the hero in the norwegian folklore. and Hordaland is a "fylke" in Norway. "fylke" = state.. or something like that.

please forgive my spelling errors ^^

thanks so much for all the vinland saga. i read each chapter obsessively.

i really love the art. but sometimes i wonder why mr. yukimura chose for a very manga look for the characters. in planetes the characters looked less manga- like, or is it just me Smile

i feel in chapter 21, the entire story just opened up again. and one thing i feel abt vinland saga, its got a really unique flow. it keeps shifting between single, self contained chapters; or longer running story arcs.
anyways, its got a interesting flow which i think works really well. and also, the artwork and scenes are really stunning Smile

I like Vinland Saga, because it s like Berserk, but without all the monsters ;o

Hey,

I would like to know if you're still doing this project? I'm a huge fan of Vinland Saga so I was wondering if you're waiting for a raw to come out, or giving other projects priority first.
I'm not trying to be difficult or anything, I'm just curious about the status of the project Wink thanks in advance
