Gave Gurren-Lagann a chance now that some decent subbers put an episode out.
It's fun; and that's all I really hoped it to be.

Nah, Gurren-Lagann 4 was pretty cool and probably the best anime-related thing to be shown this year other than the TokiKake DVD. I guess Kobayashi is certainly very niche and his juvenile, rough and unpolished yet honest and urban style isn’t really for everyone.

To each their own I suppose: personally I'm relieved that he's officially stated that episode 4 was the end of his involvement in the series. I do want to get a hold of Tokikake though.

Turns out they're adapting yet another Ikki manga (after Bokurano, Tetsuko no Tabi, and the live-action Freesia). This time it's Rideback's turn.
I hope some of my favorites get the same treatment in the future.

So, is this Rideback something we should look out for or ignore? It must have something of a following in Japan if it's being animated, right?

Edit: Aha, nevermind, I got my answer. I initially searched for "rideback" on this forum which turned up zero results, but skimming through the results for "ride" gave me what I was looking for: Gonna pass on this one.

I once checked it out after a saw it on this little ad sheet included with some other book.

I should not have done that. (And most likely, neither should you.)

Well, I read somewhere that the manga eventually becomes very political in nature, so I guess I might watch an episode. I'm half-expecting it to suck horribly, but at least it'll give me something to bitch about.

Romeo x Juliet -Yeah, I'm kind of in the mood for some sappiness. Throws every cliche in the book at you in the first episode and I'm pretty sure I know what's going to happen in for the next five or so episodes, but its well-executed and like I said, I'm in the mood for something a bit overblown. And who knows, maybe they'll pull it off and make something that resonates (the classic story is already there). Including the flamboyantly gay playwright named Willy was pretty amusing too.

Denno Coil 1-2
Quirky show about a kids cyber-detective agency; I liked it.

Seirei no Moribito 1
I felt like something "adventurous". So far great production values, but I'm afraid it'll lack heart.

Hanada Shonen-shi 18-19
I almost hate how this anime gets to me. I am a weak bitch in front of it.

With this I've watched enough for the day; nothing'll top it anyway.

Have to agree on this. This show hasn't let me down yet, and I've been sceptical from the beginning as to whether it'll remain good.
Certain developments from episode 8 have worked in its advantage more than the other way around, impact-wise.
Even when I don't feel like watching anime, I just have to put on the intro and I know I'm in for a good time.
Funny how Gainax always sort of disappears for a few years, only to come back out of nowhere and show they still have what it takes.

After watching the start of the 3rd story arc (ep17) I have to fully agree; it just keeps getting better and better. The characters are all not quite as likeable anymore but the whole thing is so very Gainax-esque.

4 years, that's how long it took for someone to sub Hanada Shônen-shi in its entirity. And god am I glad it finally happened.
A truly exceptional anime, the likes of which I'm 100% certain won't ever befall my eyes again. Even moments that weren't endearing or incredibly funny moved me, simply because of the love that was put into creating this anime.
And everyone that doesn't feel the same way has no heart, nor an inner child.
