Hmm. This is hard.

1. Rurouni Kenshin - Now and Forever. Always gonna be my fav.
2. Fullmetal Alchemist - this may go down once the manga ends.
3. Hikaru no Go - 3rd only because of an unsatisfying ending.
4. Fullmoon wo Sagashite
5. Everything/Anything by Adachi - since I don't have a particular favorite out of them.
6. Hana Kimi
7. Imadoki - sucker for shojo...
8. Black Cat
9. Naruto
10. Chrno Crusade

Actually. from 7 on, they're all among stuff that I like, but not necesarily a favorite.

1:Black and White

Probobly left out things I shouldn't have, but maybe I'll update it later...

My top 10 would be something like this:

- 20th Century Boys (Naoki Urasawa) - the best manga ever, from far Razz
- Beck (Harold Sakuishi) - incredible, fantastic, Koyuki roolz
- Bleach (Kubo Tite) - I've never read a manga like this and I'm completely fan of the manga
- Slam Dunk (Takeshi Inoue) - i love this game!
- Real (Takeshi Inoue) - another basketball manga, I love the originality in this manga
- Pluto (Naoki Urasawa) - another excellent work from my god Urasawa
- One Piece - the people can say whatever they want, but this manga is incredible, good fights, jokes, adventure and funny characters.
- Dragon Ball (Akira Toriyama) - really good
- GantZ - I don't like war, violence and weapons; but this manga is great
- PlanetES (Makoto Yukimura) - I'm not sure about to put this one in the third place, it's a great work

Yes, I think it would be something like this. That's it.

And sorry if my english is still bad, I'm already studying it ^^U

Yokohama Kaidashi Kikô
Koroshiya Ichi
Arigatô
Believers
Asatte Dance
Ryuguden
Nijigahara Holograph
Yotsuba&!
Ciguatera
Homunculus

I mostly chose completed series; and filled out the list with a few absolute favorites.

Not in a very-well-thought-out order:

1) Gunnm/Battle Angel Alita (although the Last Order stuff kind of blows)
2) 20th Century Boys... the first half. Pretty much post-Bloody News Years Eve, I've been liking it less and less. Still, an amazing series.
3) Maison Ikkoku (the last couple volumes are heartrending)
4) Adachi's stuff. All of it. Short Program fucking kills me.
5) Monster/Pluto. Don't really get me as emotionally as 20th CB, but still great.

Beyond that. dunno. I have inexplicable fondnesses for Fullmetal Alchemist, Hellsing, and Sanctuary. Also I quite enjoy Shikamaru in Naruto, although a lot of the rest of it I find pretty tepid. One Piece has its moments too.

...in something that does not in any way constitute and order... of sorts:
Harukana Machi-e,
Victorian Romance Emma,
Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou,
Monster,
PlanetES,
Beck,
Eden,
G Senjou Heaven's Door,
Hikaru no Go,
Nodame Cantabile,
Dance! Subaru,
... and probably many more that I've stupidly forgotten... like anything by Mitsuru Adachi, or The Journal of my Father by Jiro Taniguchi, or Sing Yesterday for Me, or Nasu, or Pluto, or Piano no Mori & Historie... and too many One Shots to even bother mention.

Anyone who likes YKK is OK by me. Not to mention I like most of the other titles he mentioned, too.

Always nice to please... I guess. On a side note, what is fun is to see how one's favorite series evolves over the years. I can still remember back in the early 90's I was all over Video Girl Ai, the had my Gunnm phase (how I went from one to the other I have no idea), then through to Kenshin... I can still remember the time many year go I mentioned Kenshin as my all time favorite manga *shudder*, ah the follies of youth!

As for Masahito Soda, always enjoyed Daigo but it was Dance! Subaru that blew me away, following that series was one of the best things about living in Paris and having access to so many great series, instead of Singapore where all you get are English editions, and not to insult anyone, but the range of choice in US editions SUCK, much more variety, and much more seinen, josei, and indie series available in France. Though I would like to read Capeta, loved the anime but can't help but feel that his manga must be better.

Oh and since I'm here, and still writing, I thought I'd mention the great Kami no Sanrei by Jiro Taniguchi (love that man), translated in France as The Summit of the Gods... highly recommended!

And yes... YKK rules... wish there were more series like that... sigh...

Eh, i guess everyone of us had to start with sth "shonen" to move to better titles (damn, i used to love Love Hina, i still have like 20 vols of Oh! My Goddess, when i first discovered scanlation community i read almost every Shonen Jump title ot there...) The funny thing is that ppl who are in the "bussiness" for long enough like almost the same manga - most of those you mentioned, MS titles - there is group of authors whos almost every manga pleases us - Adachi, Urasawa from big shots, Furuya, Kuroda, Igarashi, Yukimura... And tons of less know mangakas Smile good manga is good manga an nothing can change that Smile

Yeah, I had an unfortunate shounen phase as well, when I loved titles like Bleach. But what drew me to mangascreener and seinen was Pluto. Astro Boy was my first manga, so when I saw somebody made a spinoff, I had to check it out, and that was my introduction to seinen.

Amen!

On that note, what are some of he 'lesser' known Mangaka's that you've all discovered over the years? Mine would have to include the likes of Kiriko Nananan, Ebine Yamaji, or Daisuke Igarashi, Kyoko Okazaki, Iou Kuroda, Hideji Oda, Usumaru Furuya (gotta love The Music of Marie), Fumiko Takano (The Yellow Book is a MUST read), Kenji Tsuruts (Love-me-not, what can I say, I fell madly in love with it), etc.

Another quick side note, I've found that the more people read manga, and the more their taste's evolves there always reaches a point when they find themselves drawn back to Osamu Tezuka and his works (and no, not only his early Astroboy or Metropolis, but Buddha, Phoenix, Adolf, or Ludwig B).
