I just love all the projects you have by Urasawa (Pluto, Monster, 20thCB, Happy) and i wanted to know if Mangascreener gonna scanlate another Urasawa's manga.
Hope for a positive answer |

Probably not, since there are other groups that are doing his other works. |

We already have like four Urasawa series: 20cb, Monster, Pluto, Monster... and even that Beta one-shot. Besides these manga, Urasawa's done three other major series: Yawara, Master Keaton and Pineapple Army.
Yawara is a really cute manga, some time ago a group named DualTranslations did like 2 volumes of it. It also had a really famous anime adaptation, in fact it ran at the same time as Ranma 1/2 and got better ratings. It would be fun to do this manga, however i question wether this group is the best one to do it, considering the content of the manga which we tend to release lately. Its a little bit too cutsey-wootsey... however thats not a bad thing altogether.
Master Keaton also has an anime which is LICENSED! How cool is that, its being released by Pioneer. The manga is a bit dated, which i think is its major problem. Its also very text intensive. Another group did a couple chapters, and the quality wasn't that great in my mind... see for yourself. I don't think MS will do this one.
Pineapple Army is Urasawa's oldest manga, he didn't even write it. Its got some action, but i just can't get myself to like it that much. Its just too old, and too hokey! Viz released the first two volume AGES AGO...
We'll probably do anything Urasawa does in the future, but these manga aren't very likely. |

Don't you dare diss Pineapple Army, less there be hell to pay.
But no, I don't really see any validity in scanlating it. |

For what it's worth, I like Pineapple Army too. But I think it's safe to say that the MS translators (who basically have the say in which series we'll pick up) are generally interested in titles that other groups wouldn't think of doing. I wasn't part of this group (or the scanlating scene) when we started doing Monster or 20th Century Boys, but I'm pretty sure that at that point in time, no other scanlator would've thought of doing them. But times have changed and apparently, others are keen on doing Urasawa works, so I say let them. I like Naoki Urasawa as much as the next guy, but there are plenty of other great artists whose works have yet to be translated into English. |

Yawara! is also quite long (I believe 35+ volumes), which is another barrier to any translator taking on the project.

Maybe it's 29 for people not living in Japan. We get 8 bonus volumes.

I don't see why we can't scanslate Yawara. The story's not as complex and dark as 20thCB and Monster, but it's got a good story nonetheless. It gets a bit predictable after the first 2 volumes, but I say it was a enjoyable manga. I like the cutesy mangas... I say you guys should do it. The dialogue also isn't that hard to translate in my opinion (judging from the Korean adaptation), especially after 36 minutes of research into Judo terms... |
