| I want to know why we get so many requests from French scanlators, and only French scanlators. I have received at least five requests to use my King of Thorns translations in french (and several requests for Love Roma), but never any other language (spanish, italian, etc.) |
Probably because the french A) have a very large comic market of their own, and its relatively respectable though quite limited in subject matters covered, and B) the french get a lot of off-beat manga published in their country (makes me wish I took french instead of spanish) and thus I think there is a bit more of market for it over there (added to the fact that they tend to very much value art).
To Manga Nemisis: I wish I ran into french translators who were willing to give me a script to the Nasu anime so I could get the french translation to english, because Japanese translators are very difficult to find.... they were increadibly rude to me (I think a primary reason they didn't give it to me was that I was an english speaker ). I personally think fansubbers shouldn't care about this kind of distrobution, the focus of fansubbing should be to expose the public to works they don't normally have access to, not to build up the ego of those who do it. (which is sadly what much of the fansubbing scanlation scene is and why we get so many duplicate translations of the same 5 or 10 series and nothing that's a bit off the beaten path .
In short fandom sucks... |

Thats cause the spanish, portugese and russian translators don't give a frick and translate em without permission... the french ask, then (for the most part) do it no matter what the answer is... |

What can I say, from what I see the dislike between the English population and the French seems very much mutual. |

| None of us ever asked permission to scan the Japanese manga, or to make a translation of the Japanese script. So to me it's just hypocrisy to expect anyone to ask permission of us before they use what we have produced. |
that's a very good point. however, i still have to look down on people who are too lazy to do the translations for themselves (i'm too lazy to learn japanese so i guess i fall into the same boat in a way ). but as long as no money is made, i guess it continues the original purpose of scanlating (or fansubbing): to get more recognition for the manga to those who dont understand the native language.
on nasu anime: i personaly would MUCH rather see a japanese -> english fansub than a japanese -> french -> english fansub. for the same reasons as stated above, of course. it's just a 45 minute ova anyway, it's not like i cant find a t/ler for it
one last thing, i dislike individual people. a lot of french people i've seen online are more or less retarded (kinda like english speaking leechers). but i do know of a good dozen french people who are fantastic people. those of other nationalities have caused far more grief to me than the french |

Hi, I'm the webmaster of the mangas-nemesis scanlation website.
I'm reviving this topic because I asked gatsu if we could go through with the scanlation which started this debate, and luckily for us (and apparently to the dismay of some of you), he accepted.
I'd have quite a bit to say about your unexpected and unwarranted reactions, but I'll stay polite.
You have the right to think that our work isn't up to par, but why not check out our website ( www.mangas-nemesis.org ) and see for yourselves once we will have released the first chapter.
Thank you very much. |

Yeah, if you have Gatsu's blessings, then you have mine as well. Good luck. |

I really like G Senjou Heaven's door. Just want to say, keep up the good work on this manga.
The art is really clean and stylized, and the story is awesome; depicting some conflict between Father/son, and some insight into the manga industry in japan.
peace. |
