Gurren-Lagann 14 and 15, putting an end to the first part.
14 was one of the weakest episodes I've seen yet (people complain about episode 4, but they were okay with this one?), BUT 15 was pretty badass. |

After looking all over for an application that would convert the file properly. High-end h.264 mkv is a deadly combo on Mac.
I already loved Akagi to an extent, I just didn't get mah jong at all. This seems to have the same lovable qualities coupled with more general games; hard-boiled, badass gamblers with mullets and moon-shaped faces. |

Just watched Dragonaut 01, way cooler than what I though. Very similar to Eureka Seven though.
It's about saving the Earth and mechas, with a special relation of the couple of main characters, of course
Maybe too many big breasts make the anime less serious and more absurd. |

Just saw the Tekkon Kinkreet movie that Michael Arias directed and Studio 4C animated.
Its the best anime film I've seen since Mindgame - I came in with high expectations and they were exceeded . |

Moyashimon is pretty promising. Of course, the bacteria are a little too cute, and they gave the main guy a pretty annoying voice.
But those things aside, I hope someone actually subs it. |

Ghost hound looks very promising. Its a TV show by Production IG (who isn't as good as it was in the 1990s, but that's another story) that reunites Lain writer Chiaki J Konaka with Lain director Ryutaro Nakamura.... has a similar surrealist sensablity to it that I like a lot. |

What? Which song? That's fucking insane. I guess now she'll be able to count Western anime geeks among her fans. Awesome. |

Anyone has watched the first episodes of Ghost Hound? I think it can become one of the best (if not the best) anime series of this fall 2007. |

Ghost Hound had some really mellow directing in the first episode, and the sound work was nothing more than phenomenal. It gives the whole show a pretty trippy atmosphere which I like.
I have no idea where the story's going though, and I must admit the character designs aren't exactly my cup of tea.
I'll definitely be keeping up with it, anyway. Also, the opening theme is kickass. |

Was more of an in-betweener. Bring on the rest though!
Dennou Coil 20-26
All in all it falls just short of becoming a favorite of mine. It was all quite uplifting and heartwarming, and simply very well done; but in the end there's still too much that's pretty vague to me.
Still, a unique show worth watching and definitely recommended! Just not the absolute highest kind. (then again, so little is)
up next: a marathon of Nana, me thinks. |
