BBQ??!! :O!

Euhm yeah some are more than others.
Whats your point about Cigua tho? You consider it accessible or not? o_ò
I think its probably one of the more accessible ones; even as a Minoru Furuya work its probably easier to get into compared to Himizu.
Or Homunculus, which is fairly 'popular'.

Guess it's all pretty relative what is and is not.
But when you look at Ryuguden; it looks very minimalistic and you can't exactly call the art "eye-candy". On top of having a really nutball story and odd characters; I wouldn't expect a random narutard to give this a go to broaden his/her horizons.

My point was that the average 'narutard' wouldn't know what to do with ciguatera either... the people who read the manga here could generally appreciate all the series we have to offer (well the recent ones at least... don't know if they'd like cat's eye or ryuuroden as much as me).

I have no power to predict/explain what is or isn't accessible. For example, how do you account for the apparent popularity of Yaoi (is it popular? I know it has it's own convention in the U.S. now)? I would think Ryuguden would get some attention at least for the novelty (penis train, fish sex) but I reckon I would be wrong. I've pimped it out on a number of sites but I don't think anyone payed attention (though I have gotten people to read Believers and Helta Skelta [said in a typical jewish mother voice]).

Pimp out Noramimi too while you're at it. There's no excuse for that not being downloaded.

I was just thinking about that when I checked manganews... why the heck is Yaoi so popular? The art is horrible, the stories are non existent (i imagine). It's just too men holding eachother in compromising poses, well I imagine they are men, they could be flat chested women with all the make-up that men seem to wear.
I really think that manganews should have a seperate page for yaoi and yuri and doujinshi... come on!

As my classmates are all Japanese I can't pimp out the Noramimi downloads here but I have been pimping out the Tankobons. I got one of my friends hooked and now I let him read my Ikki every month.

And as if this post didn't say enough, Noramimi rocks.

Why is porn so popular? As far as I can tell, it's basically smut for chicks that people created an entire fandom around. To be fair, I'm not experienced with the genre so I'm going to guess some of the stuff have good storytelling (I've read plenty of top-notch yuri manga), but I think most of the fuss around it is that it's girl-friendly smut.

So they have the same appeal as romance novels have to middle aged women... thats still no reason to give them any respect.

I guess I just assumed the manga-reading crowd was somehow cooler than the Daniele Steele-reading set. The curtain has been lifted, Guernica revealed.

Hi all! To all ye administrators, thank you for this site, and most especially, Rapidshare! I am not a fan of IRC either, and recently (as I download a lot of manga in my spare time; NOT a big tv buff), my download timers time out before I can complete it at the site I usually go to. So I am very happy to a have found a new site with some titles I haven't been able to sample yet. I'll probably make up at least 7 of those necessary 2000 hits for the month, considering the lateness (Oct. 28th!) and my work schedule. But next month, it's on! Again, thank you and keep up the good work!

Here's one for that one. Yaoi, or more my style, shonen-ai (not smut, more like an all-guy version of some shojo mangas mostly, just with better eye-candy Laughing ), is different. It's a different approach to relationships than the norm that is portrayed EVERYWHERE in the media, and has more realistic drama (i.e. he/she/it was with him/her/them so maybe he/she/it never liked me vs. he probably isn't gay and I could really have a backlash from my classmates/family/dog if I make this mistake by pursuing/confessing/loving him). Honestly, you can't say anything until you've tried some GOOD examples of the genre; they can be pretty funny. And while all types can be ecchi and "pornographic" (example: incessant panty shots, tiny costumes of magical girls, playing to the lolita complex.. need I go on? Mind, this is all mainly geared towards GUYS... Rolling Eyes ) from shojo to shonen, there IS more to all of them at heart. Just look for the good ones, not the rips that play up 'action' for sales. Hope this helps Very Happy .

thank you for doing this (registered just to say thanks Razz). I am downloading and reading Homunculus now, and enjoying it a lot.

also, Ryuguden is awesome. It is hard to pimp it to people though.

on the yaoi thing, there is good stuff and bad stuff, just like every other genre of manga. Some yaoi/BL have really interesting storylines (particularly Naono Bohra's work, IMO). But boys doing boys is not for everyone, so hey.
