God damn is this awesome. I can't remember the last time I saw a first episode that was that great. Its world has such a surreal, nightmarish feel to it and the music compliments that perfectly. Can't wait to see more.
Anyone remember that old point-and-click adventure game called "The Neverhood"? For some reason Kaiba's look really made me think of it; probably the backgrounds and the overall weirdness that both stories have. |

I never played the Neverhood, sadly. But I did play the inferior platform game Skullmonkeys; and came from the same people iirc. Which had a great visual style.
I also mentioned the claymation thing before, when talking about Kaiba, in the staff irc channel. |

Yeah, that one. I haven't played it in eons but it was a pretty cool game that had an awesome look to it. But I just read on another forum that the visual style reminded someone of the 1970's French animated movie "Fantastic Planet," and I suppose its more plausible that the Kaiba-crew were inspired by an internationally-acclaimed animation classic than an obscure American computer game. |

Just watched episode 10, really impressive stuff. I'm glad it's all coming together like it is, but I'm still intent on watching it all over when it's fully subbed. |
