I know that there's a "Favorite Manga/Anime" thread, but one isn't a sufficient number of sample to know what someone's taste is like. So what's your top ten? Mine are:

1 River's Edge - Kyoko Okazaki
2 Believers - Naoki Yamamoto
3 Gekkou No Sasayaki - Masahiko Kikuni
4 Henshuu-Oh - Seiki Tsuchida
5 Hanao - Taiyo Matsumoto
6 G Senjou Heaven's Door - Yoko Nihonbashi
7 Aoi Kuruma - Yoshitomo Yoshimoto
8 Sexy Voice And Robo - Iou Kuroda
9 Tamaki Toyohiko-Kun Satsujin Jiken - Akira Sasou
10 Inu - Haruko Kashiwagi

I'll probably look at this list tomorrow and say, "man, this list sucks."

PS: if you can't list ten, five will do.

Okay, I figure I better post my list now, because how lucky can I get to follow someone who's number one manga is Love Hina? Hell, I could put down Tenjo Tenge and seem intelligent in comparison. I added my little explanations because that's just what I do.

1. 20th Century Boys (You have to read my review to find out why I liked this one, there's a lot to cover and I don't have the desire to repeat all of it)

2. Alive (There was something about this manga that grabbed with me, maybe it was the brevity, or maybe it was art style, but I dug it. Plus I've always been into the Redemption by Fire aspect of storytelling)

3. Beck (Who doesn't like Beck? Come on! It's the reason why most of us are here! If MS didn't do so much Urusawa stuff, they'd probably change their name to BeckScreener)

4. Blame (A story that is purely derived from artisty, abandoning all pretense of plot and character development for pretty pictures, who cannot like something so ambitious?)

5. Kyou Kara ore Wa (Young punks, spontanious fist fights, witty banter, and highschool adolescence all coupled with a minimalist art style, quite possibly my favorite manga, but since MS hasn't returned it to active status, it drops with my fading memory)

6. Katteni Kaizo (The best kept MS secret, it was so overbearringly stupid and sophmoric you can't help but laugh)

7. Saishuheiki Kanajo (I can be pretentious and like a bittersweet love story infused with science fiction too. Seriously though, it's deep, it's textured, it's sweet at the same time it is sour, and it struck something deep in me. I'm not made of stone, I can be moved!)

8. H2 (This is really a placeholder for any Adachi manga. He's a great artist with a stellar knack for wit and a keen-eye for human emotion. Even though most of his stuff follows pretty much along the same lines, he never fails to impress. Also, I would have put Katsu or Touch here, but since this is MangaScreener's board, I picked H2)

9. Yaiba (For some reason, this series just clicks with me. It's stupid and completely devoid of intelligent plot, but it just does, on some primal, genetic level. Like fanboys to twinkies, I'm just drawn to it. Maybe it has something to do with me being hooked on Brave Fencer Musashi when I was young, or that I like to think I'm still a child at heart... Or maybe I got hit in the head with a brick, I dunno.)

10. Hajime no Ippo (It's Ippo, all hail the champ! That's about all I really need to say on the matter. Go Ippo!)

Other honorable mentions: Real, Midori no Hibi, Happy, Monster, Bleach, I'll, Sky High, and Keroro Gunso, all of which might make it onto the top ten on a different day, but this is where my mind was today.

See, like I said, no matter what I listed, anything would have looked intelligent compared to CaffieneFree and his Love Hina, I even managed to sneak in Yaiba and Kaizo. You see, it's all about timing, you just have to wait for your time and it comes to you.

caffeine posted just about every title that me, flyingrobots
and summer came up on our "what idiot tasteless fanboys will
post on your thread summer list"... inu yasha, chobits, love hina
.. hell i dont even know what narotu is.. for a sec.. one
would think.. perhaps thats naruto but no.. if its a manga that
makes someone's top 10 list at the #3 position.. that person
would never mispell the name right? I bet narotu is like the
best manga ever that redeems this list.

Now what really takes the cake on caffeine's list is the inclusion
of the cowboy bebop manga and yugioh.. summer's note
was like if you can't even list 10 titles manga titles.. if
coming up with 3 good ones is a stretch fo you.. by all means
dont post the only 10 titles you can list and embarass yourself

yugioh?? i think the quality of these boards just dropped by
10 point... and the cowboy bebop manga.. man I don't think
my taste is awesome I may not be as sophisticated as flyingrobots
i may not have the art appreciation of Retrooo or the sheer
exposure that summersoldier has.. but I gotta say its a well
known fact that based on anime manga tends be akin to the
badnews bear and like the sketchy cowboy bebop manga
is no exception.

it is like they thought.. well cowboy bebop loses more then half
its "flava" with the lack of music.. so lets throw together
an incoherent lackluster plot and make it all extra ambiguous
so that idiot fanboys who lavish praise on this crap just cus
it shares the same name as a rather decent anime will
toss money at us! Go go surefire ultra-money fool the
dumb white devil fan boys plan!

Anyways, I move that Caffeine whatever his name is be either
be banished to like the "i luv yugioh cards 4 ever" forums
or at least banned for having the worst manga taste ever

please don't reproduce, thanks.

the original cowboy bebop manga sucked balls, but shooting star is pretty good. and yugioh does suck ass, but it's funny how he kills people he gets mad at.

and i do beleive caffeine meant naruto because he apparently sucks at typing, i cant understand half the stuff he posts

Man, you guys are harsh. Why does it matter if his favorite manga is love hina? I liked Love Hina. I thought the personalities of the girls made up for the crappiness of the main character and the gratuitousness ("accidental gropings, peepings" and the like). It's not my favorite series, but I like it more than say... Flame of Recca and Yaiba (I can't stand the fact that the "good guy" is really annoying and the bad guy was a decent guy that gets driven up the wall by the protagonist until the point that he becomes a bad guy. It probably changes later, but still.)

But I mean you really don't want to come off as an anime snobs/purists do you? Sure it might be funny that Caffine likes the stereotypical, cliched stuff. But dissing his taste with an air of superiority is much like correcting someone that they're putting the accent on the wrong place when they're pronouncing Akira. I mean that just screams "Fanboy Supreme!" So I propose you mock him privately and just giggle behind his back if you so choose. :D

Anyways for me (for ones being scanslated or recently scanslated):
1) Hikaru no Go - a manga about Go being this addicting? Geez.
2) Naruto - Ninjas! Need I say more?
3) 20th Century Boys - Hands down the best plot in any manga.
4) Beck - Interesting with great characters. Though, I dunno if I'll like it if Koyuki goes solo.
5) GANTZ - Gore, weirdness, and nudity. I can't ask for anything more.
6) Azumanga Daioh - One dimensional but funny characters doing inane things with lots of gags. Easy to get into, easy to stop reading, making this a very low effort manga to enjoy.
7) Bleach - Some funny characters and decent action.
8) One Piece - I don't like the Skypiea storyline as much so this one slipped but I love the ways the characters interact and how silly it often is.
9) Zushio - Insane, funny, easy to read. Another low effort manga.
10) Tokyo Crazy Paradise - The shoujo title in this list. I dunno why exactly, but I just like this series.

These are not in any special order, I like all of them equally..sort of..

1-Beck (who doesn't dig Beck?)
2-Slam Dunk (just check my avatar, dude)
3-REAL (If this manga doesn't move you, go get yourself a soul)
4-Vagabond (great artwork, by now you should realize I love Inoue-sama)
5-Angel Sanctuary (Don't ask me why, I just liked it)
6-Ayashi no Ceres (best shoujo I've ever read)
7-20th Century Boys because of the nostalgic flashbacks and Bob Lennon
8-Monster (you should have seen that coming)
9-Blade of the Immortal (it's just great)
and finally
10-Hajime no Ippo (It's amazing, you can actually learn how to box reading this..just don't go commando on your local biker's bar....)

the only reason i put these down are because i live in CT and i am poor. You try finding a decent manga here. Also i hate yugioh cards, i bought them just to burn them. And for ten cents a card thats a pretty good deal, really when you burn good cards in front of die-hard fans, there faces are great. I just liked it when they burned people in that because i got bored enough to read it while flipping through a Shonen Jump. And yes, i did mean naruto.

My top ten should look like that:
1. One Piece - you can say it's kiddy manga, but it's still best manga ever!
2. Beck - you know why
3. Monster - it won over 20th CB!?
4. 20th Century Boys - still one of the best mangas ever...
5. Touch - love you mangaproject!
6. Katsu - think what you want but Touch & Katsu are definitely better than H2...
7. Akira - hmm... Good one...
8. GTO - this one rocks!
9. Real - i need next volume of this one...
10. Mars - there must be shojo here... And this one is the best shojo ever!

Other good ones should be Berserk, Vagabond, Slam Dunk, Dr. Slump, Sand Land, Nana...
