which manga character,do you think, has suffered most.

okay, which character from any manga do you feel has had it worst.

like how toshio always fails at catching cats eye and gets scolded by his boss on a daily basis.
or when gen's home was hit by an atom bomb. or how dr. tenma is wanted as a murderer.
some tragedies common in manga:
~social outcast.
~being hunted/targeted due to something you possess
~being forced to fight
~invaders /opressors etc.
hmm personally i think yeah its horrible when something bad happens to you. but i think its worse when you mess up on your own by either doing something stupid, or being stupid.

but anyway. back to the topic. my choices are
gen (from barefoot gen) ~ his home gets hit by atom bomb, and he really goes through alot.

miyuki from "secret" by reiko momochi hmm. amazed to find this manga on the shelf , since it deals with rape, aids. but i think its really good, also very sad.

Tenma from Monster (being chased around Les Mis style for murders he didn't commit)
Kenji from 20th Century Boys (framed to be the Hitler of the 21st century)
In fact... any main character in a Naoki Urasawa manga gets my vote >_<

Sanae from Shiawase Danchi (Jiro Hasukoda). She has a very low-paying job at a school cafeteria while her husband refuses to work, refuses to wear clothes, is stupid beyond belief and doesn't give her any sex. But then again, she seems to love him all the same (when she isn't yelling at him or crying over the mess she's made of her life) so maybe she actually is happy. The name of the series is Shiawase Danchi after all...

us. Struggles to earn for us the freedom and standard
of living that we all deserve. He stands in the way of horrible
terrorists like Kenji, taking their slanders and attacks without
flinching!!!!

Naruto (Naruto) - hated and reviled by everyone in his whole village since birth. Been alone since birth.
Sasuke (Naruto) - Witnessed the killing of his entire clan by his brother. Been alone since then.
Gaara (Naruto) - Another unloved kid. Father constantly sends assassins, uncle tried to kill him. All that goodness.
Zushio (My name is Zushio) - Then again he's the guy who's least bothered by his horrid luck.
The chick who hangs out with Zushio (My name is Zushio)- I don't think I need to explain. Does this girl even have a name?
Honda Touru (Fruits Basket) - Her whole immediate family died and she was living in a tent. In a tent for god's sake!
Kei Kurono (Gantz) - Dies helping out his friend even though he didn't want to. And has to watch his friend get the girl when his friend doesn't even look that interested in her.

and well, probably gatsu from berserk, or however you feel like spelling his name. for christs sake, he lost an eye and an arm while watching his woman raped infront of him. and then, only then, have her forget who he is and have to fight off demons for the rest of his jeegolly, hate filled life all on little or no rest or relaxation. let us not forget how he was raped and beaten when he was younger. gatsu takes the cake fellas.

All of the extras, you know, those half drawn background characters. They suffer the pain of never having their story told, to go unnoticed by the masses as they shuffle to and fro during their every day lives, crying on the inside. The footnote that serves only to add atmosphere to a larger story they will never know.

That and any chick who's ever been in a tentacle flick (although they seem to enjoy it...).
