I wanted to know if Paradise Kiss had 5 volumes or is it still ongoing in Japan?
And I wanted to know if RAVE is a good manga. Tokyopop has it and I wanted to read a little bit of it to see if it was good. But the scanlations on this site were taken off so I wanted to ask. IS Rave a good manga? I'm mostly into funny mangas, so is it funny and worth buying? |

So Paradise Kiss is still ongoing? Well, I asked because I though the first volume was strange and I didn't like the characters so much but I was going to keep buying it if there was only 5. So we might not get them all.
I heard Rave was one of the most best shonen mangas so I wanted to get that. What makes it crappy? |

it basically tries to be like one piece, but fails in every way. the "friendship" themes are way overdone and horribly cheesy and the character design is pretty terrible for the most part. it does have a pretty crazy sense of humor and there's obviously a lot of effort put into it but the end result is nothing special. |

Rave is excellent, imo. i never really saw how it was like One Piece, except maybe the art was a little similar. i guess you might say the Brings are like the Devil Fruit, but you could say they're like every other power-up item in the manga universe too, so... personal pref, i guess. x.x;
it is really quite funny, so if that's your only criteria, i think it'd be worth getting at least 1 or 2 vols of it. |

of course the art is the biggest similarity to OP but it's exactly the same in just about every other way. it's an adventure, they go out and find new companions... haru = luffy, elie = nami, musica = zoro, ruby = chopper, they have large composite battles where every person takes on an enemy character, etc.
but it IS really damn funny. griff is one of the best gag characters i've ever seen, and nakajima the giant flower/man is hilarious too. |

hm, now that you mention it... but i guess i've read/seen so many manga/anime like that, i don't notice the similarity anymore. ^^; i see OP and Rave as hugely different cuz their goals are different... Rave they're trying to destroy the Dark Bring, OP they're trying to find the One Piece... and the worlds are also very different (altho both are rather strange) so it never registered. ^~;; |

Well I don't think it's weird. If the first manga isn't too good then I shouldn't expect much from the rest. Anyway, I don't want to keep buying ongoing mangas because it costs a lot of money and I don't know when it will end. |

I couldn't agree more; as in Initial D, being the localization route TokyoPop decided to go with after the first volume.

I don't really agree with that. When I bought the first vol of Berserk, I didn't like it that much. I decided to keep buying it and... well, you can guess. The best manga EVER!!! |
