I swear he came out of nowhere, officer.
In our current series "Things you damned well didn't expect", this time it's Vaz's time to provide the surprise. After a long and ardous wait, he finally took it upon himself to do something about the lack of sports that aren't baseball, in the MS catalogue. Here are the goods, then:

And, assuming it went through by now, Vaz made an MU link for you as well:

Furuya Fur-a-yu
Contrary to what many may believe, we are not entirely dead yet. Not that I'd call us "alive and kicking", but there are still some loose ends to be tied up. We are probably going to need a couple of organ transplants to continue our activities beyond current projects. So let it be known that we are on the lookout for fresh blood, in all departments. Do not hesitate to contact us! On to the order of the day; some actual releases: We continue with 2 chapters of the fifth book of Ciguatera, which has been lying around translated and fully scanned for forever. I suppose that one's partly on me hurting the readers, but since it's not exactly a leisurely edit; I accept your forgiveness. Ciguatera v05c51Ciguatera v05c52Sticking to more of the same mangaka, upping the lolometer; we've wrapped up the second volume of Boku to Issho. It's back to the joint for the bums, as I was approached by Illuminati-Manga to continue this manga. Since the entire series has already been translated by their translator, Molokidan, we are filled with newfound hope to finish this sucker once and for all. Boku to Issho v02c23Boku to Issho v02c24

A Very Long Year
Well, it has been a long time. For most of the past year, Mangascreener has remained inactive, and this is largely my fault. I've been involved in scanlating for many years and translated just a disgusting amount of manga, much of which has been licensed -- my conceit is that we helped bring that about just a tiny bit. However, all that work has finally caught up with me and I now realize that it is time to hang up my coat and move on. In fact, I probably would never have gotten my act together to post this update if the rest of the staff hadn't given me a good kick in the ass to get moving. This most likely does not signal the end of Mangascreener's long history, but it certainly will be a change. We will have discussions about how best to move forward after this, but as none of us are getting any younger, a return to the productivity of days of yore is unlikely. Even after many of our favorite series have been licensed, we will probably be dumping several more. I realize this seems silly to say after an entire year where essentially everything was "dumped," but hopefully there will be good stuff to come out of this. Stay tuned for future news! Today's release features a huge grab bag of stuff, some of which has been sitting around for a while, some of which is for series that probably won't be continued, and some of which we'll hopefully still be releasing in the future. And now, if you please, the drum roll for today's release: Baka & Gogh Volume 1 Extra One-Shot Boku to Issho Volume 2 Chapters 20-22 Ciguatera Volume 5, Chapters 47-50 H2 Volume 31 Happy! Volume 10, Chapters 97-103 Kimi no Kakera Volume 5 Prologue Noramimi Volume 4 Chapters 35-38 Stopper Busujima Volume 5 Chapters 1-7 Vinland Saga Volume 5, Chapters 29-30 Because there is such a large variety of material, I've chosen to simplify things for myself by just making one torrent. Apologies if you're only interested in one thing in the bunch, but that's what the selective downloading feature in torrent clients is for. TorrentAu revoir!

Trick or Treat
So... we had a quiet summer. Things will probably continue to be quiet, but there are still plans ahead. In concert with Entropy's major Halloween release, we are bringing forth another trio of Goodnight Punpun chapters, which brings us to the halfway point of Volume 2. In addition, I am verrrrry pleased to finally announce the release of the first section of a very impressive project which has been in plans for years, Ranman, from Shinkichi Kato of National Quiz and Baka & Gogh fame. Some of you with long memories may recall a blurb or two about this in the past, but rest assured you have never seen anything like this book in manga, and you have never seen such incredible art. This is the first of four sections in the book, and barbapapa and I will be following this up with more work on Baka & Gogh and Ranman, if everything goes well. Other near-term goals include more H2 and Punpun. Some other projects will probably be continued, depending on whether or not the staff has time for them. I've done more work on Ressentiment but am having trouble contacting the editor. Pluto was licensed and is dropped. Bokurano and Homunculus are dropped. Rumors are stirring about Children of the Sea, so we've stopped working on that for the time being. Happy is probably gone. I want to continue with Noramimi. Vinland Saga has been continued way past our current point by other people and will only be released by us if cjd still wants to scan/edit it. I'm not sure about our plans for Ciguatera/Boku to Issho. So, there you have it. TORRENTSRanmanGoodnight Punpun
