Story. Adventure Boys (Boken Shonen) is a special work in Adachi's pantheon in that it was serialized for only 7 chapters, at one chapter a year. The stories are each entirely self-contained, but follow the same pattern: a plain, grown-up man confronts his past and recalls the boy he used to be in order to solve some problem in his adult life. While Adachi's usual themes are adolescence and sports, here he tackles the disillusionment and disappointment of becoming an adult in a poignant way that he never could in his youth-oriented epics. Adventure Boys was serialized in Big Comic Original from 1998 to 2005, and was collected into a single volume in 2006.
