Inside Flap: Aoyama here. I've been so busy lately that I haven't had time to go see any movies. There are no video rental shops nearby either, so I have to buy them as software (movies on CD) but I don't have time to watch those either... I've collected so many movies I haven't seen yet... I wonder if I should start a video store (oh well...).

Back Flap: Aoyama Goshou's Illustrated Book of Great Detectives #5 - Jules Maigret - Born from the pen of French novelist Georges Simenon is the most ferocious of police agents at the Paris Headquarters, Jules Maigret!! Maigret means "scrawny" in French, but he is a giant at 180cm and 100kg. A member of the "pipe faction" of detectives who are not smoking only when they are asleep, Maigret chews on his unlit pipe when he is confronted with evidence that puts his investigation in a deadlock... His method of investigation is to go out and collect evidence and reason out the case for himself. His reputation as a demon of an investigator is appropriate, given his interrogation method of sitting the suspect down in a chair and applying psychological pressure to force a confession! But if my Inspector Megure (same pronunciation) were as shrewd as the real Maigret, Conan wouldn't have so much trouble... (My recommendation is "Maigret Sets a Trap")
Summary of events up to this point: One day, some mysterious men in black force the high school detective Kudou Shinichi, in pursuit of a case, to drink a strange concoction that shrinks his body! From there on he takes the temporary name "Edogawa Conan", and moves into his girlfriend Mouri Ran's house, the Mouri Detective Agency. Ran's father, Kogorou, who is supposedly going to be useful in tracking down the secret organization, is a bumbling idiot of a detective. He always receives hints from Conan and safely solves the cases. But Kogorou mistakenly believes they are all his own accomplishments. Finally, Conan goes to elementary school to convince the rest of society that he is a normal kid. However, he makes some inquisitive, active, detective-playing friends that cause quite a bit of trouble. Will he get tired of pretending to be a child...?!
