Back Flap: Aoyama Goshou's Illustrated Book of Great Detectives #8 - Zenigata Heiji - Protecting the peace of the Edo Period is the cool plainclothes detective they call Master Heiji, Zenigata Heiji!! The novelist Nomura Kodou brought forth this detective who lives in a cheap tenement in Kandamyoujin-shita with his wife. He loves smoking, and playing shogi on the veranda in his free time. His special trick is "coin tossing"!! When he spies a bad guy, the four-mon coins he throws always hit the target, without fail! A friend of the people, he hates corruption and will not take any kind of bribe, which means he lives in total poverty and takes two months to come up with rent. The ones there to help Heiji are his old, crude friend, Hachigorou and his beloved wife, Oshizu. Oshizu, who always sends Heiji off after a "kiribi" good-luck purification, is the one supporting Heiji and his heart... It is for Oshizu's sake that he tried to hold back on his "coin tossing" and be thrifty. (My recommendation is Zenigata Heiji Torimono Hikae, "Zenigata Heiji's Arrest Notes".)
Summary of events up to this point: The great little detective, Edogawa Conan. He is actually Kudou Shinichi, the great high school detective whose body was shrunk when he was given a mysterious poison by a criminal syndicate. His world-famous mystery novelist father and his mother are currently living overseas. He's currently freeloading at his girlfriend Mouri Ran's house, the Mouri Detective Agency. One day, a girl named Ryouko comes to the agency calling herself "Shinichi's Girlfriend". Ran, taking Ryouko's lie for truth, takes Conan along to Ryouko's apartment to search for Shinichi. On the other hand, Conan sees the truth, that the popular soccer player Akagi Hideo is being forced to throw a match because of a kidnapping. Then, the three rush to where the culprit is. But, is Ran still mistaken?!
