H2 Volume 17 Chapter 1 (160) How About a Walk? - Page 5 - (Ch. 1) How About a Walk? - Page 6 - - Page 7 - - Page 8 - Shiroyama: You start losing your control, and your pitches start to go wild. The 7th and 8th innings are the toughest for a pitcher. Teams: S E Shiroyama: It's the lucky seventh for the batting team. Especially for a terrible pitcher who can't pace himself. - Page 9 - Announcers: Down by three runs in the bottom of the 7th, Eikyo's leadoff batter Arai is trying to get on base, with a 3-1 count. He'll watch this next pitch. Arai puts up a bunt posture... And then he bunts! (cough) Hiro: Good one! - Page 10 - Announcer: They can't make a play! Eikyo's fastest runner puts down a perfect bunt! Koga: Skilled batter, fast, good at push-bunting... Wow! Can you believe my sister? It was all written down, right in Haruka's notebook! Player: ...that's great. - Page 11 - Noda: Just a little further, Hiro. Hiro: How about a walk? Noda: Huh? Hiro: For Hirota, up next. Noda: You're going to intentionally walk him? Hiro: Shut up! I'm not going to avoid him. I just don't want him to get a hit. - Page 12 - Ogura: It's all you, Hirota! Hirota: {Shut up. I only want to win the games that I pitch.} - Page 13 - Noda: Keep a good eye on the ball. - Page 14 - - Page 15 - Shiroyama: Nonsense. You can't throw strikes with a form like that. Dad: How 'bout that speed? Even the pros would be scared. Koga: What's the point, if you can't throw a strike? Haruka: Kunimi-kun hates walks more than anything. - Page 16 - Haruka: Because then there's no use to all the training that the fielders do everyday... With hits, the fielders can run after the ball, and maybe even turn an incredible play. But, all you can do with walks and home runs is watch. With a home run, you can at least compliment the batter. But there's no excuse for a walk without strikes. Hiro: Arrgh! - Page 17 - Koga: It looks like he's about to show us one of those horrible walks. Haruka: You can't compare this to any normal walk. Koga: Oh? Haruka: This is... an unavoidable walk. - Page 18 - Hirota: {Ack!} - Page 19 - Announcer: What a surprise! Hirota swings at an obvious ball! Shiroyama: Just stand there, Hirota! He's not going to throw a strike! Hirota: {Shut up, old man. What a joke...} - Page 20 - - Page 21 - - Page 22 - Noda: Hey, that's only the first out. - Chapter 1 End -
