Story. Nasu means "eggplant." In this case, it's a manga full of many short, self-contained stories that all feature an eggplant in them, in some way. There are several characters that appear in more than one story, and eventually they all kind of work their way together into one giant, fascinating weave. Kuroda has a great sense of humor and can really individualize his characters well, making this little treasure of a manga worth picking up if you see it in the bookstore. One of the stories, "Summer in Andalusia," was made into an hour-long animated feature film by Madhouse Studios. It ran in Kodansha's monthly Afternoon magazine from 2000 to 2002, for 3 volumes. I began this project in September 2003 and finished in December 2004.
