Inside Cover: When I decided to draw a "pirate story," I gathered up and read all the books on pirates that I could find, but the pirates I dreamt about as a boy didn't show up in any records of the past. I guess they were so wrapped up in their own fun adventures that they forgot to write down their stories for posterity. Sheesh, those wacky pirates.
