Having reached the Grand Line, Luffy and company join with the princess Vivi to sail to the kingdom of Alabasta, in order to stop the secret crime syndicate Baroque Works from completing their "Takeover of Alabasta." After a battle with the Baroque Works on an island of giants, things take an unexpected turn. The crew starts out at full speed when the takeover of Alabasta plan begins to kick into high gear, but Nami falls under a dangerously high fever. Luffy and crew arrive at the snow-covered Drum Island to find a doctor for her, heading for the mountaintop where Kureha, the island's only doctor, resides. In her home, there is a blue-nosed reindeer named Chopper. Fascinated with his ability to speak and walk on two legs, Luffy invites him to join the crew, but Chopper's heart bears terrible scars.
Six years ago, after a lifetime of isolation, Chopper was delighted to meet his first friend, the quack Dr. Hiruluk, who gave him his name and called him his son. Hiruluk loved his home country dearly, and tried to save its future from the corrupt rule of the king, Wapol. However, he tragically perishes when he falls into Wapol's insidious trap! Chopper is shocked and grieves for
his friend, but inherits Hiruluk's will and decides to become a doctor.
Luffy and Chopper face off against Wapol, who has returned to take his country back. What will the future of this kingdom be...?
