The Story of One Piece, from volume 1 to volume 31: It is the Great Pirate Age. Countless pirates have raised their flags and gone
to battle to find the legendary pirate king Gold Roger's hidden treasure, "One Piece". Luffy, who yearns to be one of those pirates,
sets off on a voyage to become the Pirate King!!
Plunging into the Grand Line, Luffy and company make it to the "Land of God," Skypiea, an island floating in the sky. However, the moment they step on the island, they are labeled criminals and forced to face God's judgment. Nami and some others are taken away to be sacrifices, and in the act of finding them, Luffy and the others get stuck in a tough battle with some of God's priests! Nami's party, after a quick inspection of their surroundings, come to the conclusion that this island in the sky is actually just a piece of the island Jaya, down on the surface. When the two parties are reunited, they decide that there must be a great amount of gold hidden on the island, and decide to search for it. However, they get wrapped up into a 3-way battle for survival with Upperyard's ruling priests and the previous inhabitants, the Shandians!! The warriors fall one by one before Ener's terrifying powers. Finally, Ener's plans are made clear. He will kill everyone who lives in the sky, ride upon his flying ark, the "Maxim," and head towards the endless land in the sky, the "Fairy Vearth"!! Luffy finally faces off against Ener to stop his evil plan. Luffy seems to have the advantage in the fight, until Ener welds a giant ball of gold around his arm and knocks him off the ship. With his natural enemy, Luffy, out of the picture, Ener takes his "party" to the final stage...
