Volume 51 : The Eleven Supernovas
go back

Inside Cover: I heard a story about how professional swimmers get webbing in between their fingers to move the water better. That's evolution! Since mangaka have been drawing for decades, I'd like to see some kind of evolution there. Like... what if fingernails evolved to the shape of a pen nib? Or what if you could see through the clothes of women who walk the street? Volume 51, start!!

Back Cover: On their way to Fishman Island, Luffy's crew stops at an island where bubbles float freely. However, it was an island where ancient history still ruled social mores! With 11 new bounties in excess of 100 million each, a new incident was just waiting to happen! An ocean adventure romance in search of the "One Piece"!!

The Story of One Piece, from Volume 1 to Volume 51: It is the Great Pirate Age. Countless pirates have raised their flags and gone to battle to find the legendary pirate king Gold Roger's hidden treasure, "One Piece." Luffy, who yearns to be one of those pirates, sets off on a voyage to become the Pirate King!!
Having successfully arrived at the Grand Line, Luffy and crew head for Fishman Island with their new ship, the Thousand Sunny! However, the ship wanders into the haunted Florian Triangle. A new story begins when they come across a funny skeleton named Brook. The Sunny is brought to the ghost island, "Thriller Bark," a place full of the living dead, led by none other than Moria Gecko of the Seven Armed Seas! Moria's ability to remove shadows from his victims proves a heady obstacle, but by cooperating as one, the crew managed to defeat him! However, before they even have time to celebrate, an even stronger enemy arrives: Bartholomew Kuma, another Seven Armed Sea, and tasked with wiping out the entire crew! With Luffy unable to fight, Zoro makes a deal with Kuma, and the foe departs after delivering a near-fatal blow to the crew's swordsman.
With Brook now an official member of the crew, the ship is off for Fishman Island, when a mermaid falls in their midst... with a talking starfish. While attempting to rescue her friend "Hacchin," the crew is attacked by the Flying Fish Riders! And it seems like their boss, Duval, has a settle to score with the Straw Hats...
