Inside Flap: I hate underdrawing. But I can't just lay down the ink directly, so I shut up and do it. It's still really rough, though. No one line will do it for me, so I have to draw several lines for each one in the underdrawing phase. When I starting inking with the pen, choosing which line to use is another hassle. I have to correct myself many times. Because I don't have any time. Yes. That's it. If there weren't any deadlines... yeah, I wouldn't get any work done...
Back Cover: In order to fulfil a promise with a second-year baseball team member who quit school, enthusiastic rookie teacher Kawato will try to rebuild the fallen baseball team. Now, it's nothing more than a hangout for the delinquents in their first year of school, but little by little, Kawato's presence is turning into something they can't ignore!!
The Story Thus Far: The Futakotamagawa Academy baseball team has been suspended from activity because of a violent incident. Kawato is a new teacher who has just been hired to work at Futakotamagawa, and put in charge of class 1-B, where most of the perpetrators of the incident in question are. Furthermore, Kawato takes the position of baseball team advisor in an attempt to get the baseball team back on its feet, so he can fulfil a promise to a second-year baseball player who quit the school. Aniya goes to Kawato's previous school and starts a fight, but later sees the power of Kawato's beliefs with his own eyes. Kawato hears the principal say the true reason why he was hired, but he announces that he has no intention of stepping down from the team advisor position. Sekikawa overhears this conversation while hiding in the faculty room to steal back the clubroom key, and has his first thoughts of actually playing baseball as a team member. This attitude infuriates Shinjo, who decides to punish Sekikawa and Mikoshiba. The other members are disgusted by Shinjo's actions. Shunned by his friends, Shinjo wanders around the town and gets into a fight with some other punks. Kawato, on his way to Shinjo's house to talk with his family, comes across the fight scene. He joins the fray, saying that he will protect his students to the death.
