Inside Flap: I don't watch a lot of TV. Instead, a lot of time my background music for drawing is the sound of the TV. Lots of times I imagine what a commercial is like, based on the sound of it. I was pleasantly surprised when I heard the Rolling Stones' "She's a Rainbow" in a commercial once. But what commercial was it? Plus, what's up with the way they always cut to commercials in the variety shows, and how they repeat the same damn commercial breaks?! Since when did things get that way?
Back Cover: They've finally found their own path, after many detours. The nine hooligans have learned how to change themselves, have their own dreams, and trust others, thanks to their teacher, Kawato. The team of losers has finally overcome all obstacles to the starting line; they're ready to play!!
The Story Thus Far: New teacher Kawato has accepted his mission to reform the currently-suspended baseball team. They only have six members with two weeks left until their practice game. Aniya is the one who holds the key to getting this new team off and running, but he continues to hold his ground. When Kawato speaks blithely of the "Koshien," Aniya snaps. At first, Kawato is bewildered by Aniya's outburst, but then learns of Aniya's experiences in middle school from his childhood friend, Yagi. A star player in middle school, Aniya's team was no-hit by another pitcher, who was then utterly crushed in the Koshien. Aniya sees that his skill has its limits, and he gives up trying. During this time, Imaoka and Hiratsuka join the club, so only one player is left. When he learns from Shinjo that Aniya is coaching a little league team, Kawato decides to challenge Aniya to a bet. If Kawato wins, Aniya has to join the team, and if Aniya wins, Kawato has to quit his position as baseball team advisor. Except Kawato loses. But the next day, who should appear before Kawato and the team, but Aniya in a uniform.
